ABOUT US

MISSION & VISION

The Pyrene programs are the result of more than 20 years of experience working in youth programs in the Pyrenees. In 2001, we rehabilitated an abandoned farmhouse in the Cerdanya Valley, and since then it has been our base camp. In our camps and expeditions, we discover peaks, lakes, and high mountain forests, cooperating with mates who will become new friends forever.

Pyrene’s mission is to create unforgettable and impactful experiences that will last forever and to do it safely. Although we know that overcoming challenges often means going through difficult times, we believe that the growth that comes with it and the satisfaction at the end of the journey is well worth it. Barcelona – 1977

Graduate in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. Master in Teacher Training. Sports Technician in Rescue and First Aid and Alpine Skiing. I grew up on the outskirts of Barcelona; back then, going out to pick wild asparagus was a great adventure for me. While studying at INEFC Barcelona, I specialized in Physical Activity in the Natural Environment, and it was there that I met Meritxell. In 2001, by a twist of fate, we restored a house in the abandoned village of Nèfol, in La Cerdanya, to run rural and active tourism. With our family, we lived four years in Taos, in the Rocky Mountains, discovering the Wild West. With Pyrene, I am realizing the dream of enhancing the value of what is around us, with the people and things close to us.

Sabadell – 1985

Graduate in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, Master in Teacher Training, Leisure Director and Sports Technician in Alpine Skiing. I completed my university studies at INEFC Barcelona in 2008 and began working as a Physical Education teacher in the Barcelona area. Eager to experience other cultures and landscapes, I left my job to travel around the world during 2013 and 2014. I joined the Pyrene team in 2015 as an instructor, and since 2016 I have been the Coordinator. After this experience, I decided to live in contact with nature and moved to the Cerdanya Valley. Now the mountains are my home, and I love discovering them through trail running. During the winter months, I am busy serving as the Director of the Pyrene Ski Club.

Vielha – 1999

I’m currently studying Geography and Economics. I hold the TD2 Alpine Ski Instructor certification and work as a ski instructor in the Vall d’Aran, where I was born. However, I lived in La Cerdanya from the age of 5 to 20, a key stage where I began my athletic career as a Telemark World Cup racer. I’m passionate about the mountains and always look for ways to enjoy them, whether it’s on a bike in the summer or on skis in the winter. I’m joining the Pyrene Explorer team to support participants with whatever they might need. Arriving at Barcelona airport? I’ll be there to welcome you. Forgot your boots for climbing Aneto at the camp? No worries, I’ll make sure they reach you at the Renclusa hut before you start your hike.

Rajadell – 1999

Graduate in Physics and certified Leisure Time Instructor. Since I was a child, my parents took me to the mountains and taught me to love and respect nature. Today, I enjoy passing on the same values to young people, helping to educate the next generations and connect with the natural environment. Whenever I can, I dedicate time to running or cycling in the mountains near home or escaping to the Pyrenees, where I look for new routes and landscapes. Occasionally, I like to challenge myself by participating in long-distance mountain races. When I’m not outdoors, I play competitive table tennis in Sallent. Since 2021, I have been part of the Pyrene team.

Torelló – 1992

Graduate in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences. Master’s Degree in Teacher Training, certified Sports Technician in Lifesaving and Rescue, Alpine Skiing, and Hiking. I studied at INEFC Barcelona and, after exploring different areas of sport and education, I decided to train as a PE teacher. I travelled through Asia and South America and came back with a desire to live closer to the mountains. In La Cerdanya, I found a place where I can enjoy what I love: skiing, trekking, running, and rock climbing. In 2017, I meet Pyrene and become part of the summer camps team. In winter, I work as a ski and snowboard instructor with Club Esquí Pyrene.

Vacarisses – 2000

I studied Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (CAFE) at INEFC and I hold Level 1 (TD1) certifications in Hiking and Alpine Skiing. I currently work as a ski instructor in the Vall d’Aran, a job I’m passionate about that allows me to be in direct contact with the beautiful mountains every single day, enjoying fresh air. I’ve always been very active and I love any activity that involves being in nature. Some of my main hobbies are trail running, skiing, road cycling, and climbing. I’ve also had the chance to take part in the Wild and Bold Adventure camps, experiences that left a big mark on me and strengthened my passion for adventure and outdoor sports.
